Cobalt Blue Pants

I had a great week-end. My dinner party was a success on Friday night. (Other than my stove deciding not to work, and having to carry my one dish over to my neighbours to cook.) We also had a lot of fun last night, my friend and I sat in the golf cart and chatted while our husbands played golf, then we went out for dinner at a new restaurant.
I wore my cobalt blue pants, I love these pants and have worn them many times. Check out the last pic to see all of the different ways. Also my husband bought me a new owl necklace a few weeks ago (to add to my growing collection), isn't it cute.

Authenticity

Happy Sunday Quote Day! This is such a great reminder as it really does need to be a daily practice to just be who you are and not try to be something else.
We are off this afternoon with friends as my husband wants to get in some golf before it gets to cold. To practice what I preach below I will not TRY to be a golfer, instead my friend and I will sit and chat in the golf cart while our husbands play!

TGIF

Tonight I am hosting a Birthday Dinner Party for one of my oldest friends. We have been through High School together, we lived together in University, I visited her when she moved to L.A, she was one of my bridesmaids when I got married and now we are lucky enough to only live a few minutes away from each other. So, I have a million and one things to do today before everyone arrives.
 The weather is all over the place one minute it is hot the next it is cold, I love this sweater for in-between weather. Hope everyone has a wonderful week-end. TGIF!

Travis

We went to see the band Travis last night at a small venue in Toronto. It was a really great show. My husband and I have pretty different tastes in music, he is into a lot more alternative type music while I tend to like more pop and old school 80's! Every once in a while though we agree and last night was one of those times.
I wore this new grey shirt which is so amazingly soft and feels like a sweatshirt. Perfect since there were no seats at this concert, comfort was very important.

Rock n Roll

I can't help but feel a little rock n roll every time I wear these pants. Thought I would tone them down with a cream blouse and blazer but nope...I still feel a little rock n roll.
Speaking of rolling, yesterday I took a nasty roll on my deck, not my finest moment but luckily a large planter broke my fall so I was able to get up a little banged up and sore with just my dignity bruised.

53 Years of Marriage

Today is my parents 53rd Wedding Anniversary. They are such incredible role models to myself and my brothers and sister. We are all very fortunate to have grown up watching the mutual love and respect that my parents showed each other every day. With the challenges of moving to a new country with 4 small children my parents have been through so much over the years and have come out of it  together and as strong as ever. Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!

Fall Clothes

As much as I hate to say good-bye to summer, the only positive is that we get to bring out our fall clothes. I bought these navy pants and orange top back before summer began and was excited to bring them out once the weather turned. I don't think these pictures do this top justice. It has a really cool draping effect which I love. As much as I love fall clothes, I am secretly counting the days until summer returns. (approx. 250 days)

Don't Worry

I know this quote is so much easier said than done. It is something I need to tell myself over and over.
When I lay awake at night with the insomnia that has haunted me since I was a teenager, worrying about everything possible, I need to visualize this picture in my head.
Simple but so true.

To Go or Keep?

I bought this jacket a few years ago, can't remember where it was even from. It was in my "to go"pile  when I tried it on and decided what was I thinking! It is now back in my "keep" pile. It is the perfect light jacket for the weather that is going on right now.

Bargain Shopper

I am a self proclaimed bargain shopper. I almost never pay full price for anything. When I first saw this necklace I wanted it so bad but knew I would never pay the regular price, if I was patient it would most likely go on sale. When it went 20% off it was not good enough, so I waited. When I saw it 50% off I was super excited and was going to buy it but was with my son and husband who were not being very cooperative that day so I vowed to go back the next day. So when I went back and it was 75% off I did a small dance all the way to the cash register. Patience pays off.

Converse

If you have read this blog in the past then you know that I don't really do running shoes. I do however, love a good pair of Converse &  have them in multiple colours. One look I have seen but not tried in the past is pairing them with a dress. Now this is a very simple t-shirt dress and I have used it in the past as both a dress and a bathing suit cover up, so I felt like it was casual enough to try. I picked up this Vince Camuto jacket earlier this summer for my trip to Cayman but since it was so hot I never ended up wearing it. Thought is would work for this look.

Summer to Fall

Like everyone else, I am trying to convert some of my summer clothes into fall clothes. I love this dress that I have shown before (see bottom picture) and decided to try it out as a skirt. My jewellery and belt were Birthday presents from some of my great friends.  What do you prefer the summer or fall look?

Neglect

I have been sorting out some of my clothes and realize that I have been neglecting quite a few of them.
This top I have not worn in at least two years, these pants still have the tags on them (they were a bit tight and now they are a bit loose — go figure) and it has been at least 2 years since I have worn these shoes. Why do we do this? Wear the same things over and over and forget all about all of that other stuff. Do I just have too many clothes? (maybe but I am not going to admit that), I mean we need to wear clothes everyday right?

Koumpounophobia

I took my son to the book store last night and since I have to stay in the kids section while he sits on the floor and looks at books, I am left to read whatever is handy. Luckily they had the Guinness Book of Records and Strange Facts. One of the things I came across was Koumpounophobia which is the fear of buttons. Who knew? I mean can you imagine having a fear of buttons? How difficult it would be to get dressed every day? Definitely feeling grateful I do not have this fear!
