Homework
I am feeling really dumb. Is there something wrong with me that I can't figure out my 7 year old's homework? Should a 7 year old have homework that their parents can't figure out? Or have I just been out of school for way too long? I mean I had to call my Mom last night and ask her for help with my son's homework. I felt like I was in high school again needing my Mom's help with an essay. We talked it out and eventually got it right (I think). This is not a good sign of what's to come for grades 2-12! Maybe I need to go back to school?

Don't feel bad! I'm a 3rd grade teacher/teach 8-9 year olds. I have homework from our math book that I send home, and even *I* have difficulty with the new concepts/skills. My parents write a note and I make sure we review it in class. You're not alone! :)

My daughter is in Grade 6 and I am regularly floored by her homework, especially maths. Luckily my sister is an accountant and we often call her to help out. I am also expert at hiding the calculator under the table.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely week.
