My Dad

Last night I got to celebrate one of the best men on the planet's Birthday. My Dad! If I could sum up my Dad in one sentence it would probably be this one phrase he taught me when I was little that I have never forgotten....."When your smiling the whole world smiles with you, but when your frowning you frown alone." My Dad would sing this to me all the time. Such a valuable lesson to learn at a very young age. One of the many he has taught me through the years. He is also by far the main reason I am such a great bargain hunter! Thanks Dad and Happy Birthday.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Whatever happened to Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing line Bitten? The company mantra was.... "It is every woman's inalienable right to have a pulled together stylish, confident wardrobe with money left over to live. Get Bitten." I loved what it stood for and wish it wasn't discontinued. The reason I am wondering is I found this shirt in my closet by SJP's "Bitten" and forgot how much I liked it. Did anyone else buy clothing from Bitten?

Owl love you forever...

I am one of those people who are obsessed with Owl's. No idea why, they are just so cute. My friend bought me this necklace and I love it. Today is one of those dark rainy days that make you want to stay in bed under the covers all day. Unfortunately that is not an option. Hope it is warm and sunny wherever you are.

Back to Life

I love to take old forgotten items from my closet and mix them with fresh new items, essentially bringing them back to life to see another day! This is what I did below. Only the belt and shoes are new. I can't even remember how old this skirt is, but I am pretty sure it is past the 10 year mark. First I am just happy it still fits and second I am happy that it turned out to be a classic piece that can stand the test of time.

Basics

Everyone has their comfort zone outfits, the ones that you can throw on and not think have to think about, the clothes that make you feel the most comfortable. Mine like many others are very simple, jeans and a tee. Now of course there are multiple variations of this combination, however, blue jeans and a white tee are as simple as you can get. One of my favourite ways to spice it up has always been with a scarf. Spring and  Summer are no exception as there are so many great lighter scarfs that you can throw on. The brighter the better for me.

Opportunity

Happy Sunday. Since my husband and in laws were away last week-end we are going to have our Easter dinner today. So I need to go clean the house, set the table and start cooking for 11 of us. Wish me luck. Last time I cooked a turkey I cooked it upside down (oops!).

Florence, Italy

Almost a year ago 20 of my family members from Canada, The U.S and Australia  met in Italy for a memorable family reunion. It was such a great trip and we were all left with memories that will last a lifetime. I picked up this sweater from a street market in Florence. I somehow put it aside and had forgotten about it and have only now pulled it out. I love how a piece of clothing can conjure up such vivid images and feelings. Every time I wear this I will smile fondly and remember those special days spent with family.

TGIF

TGIF!! It has been a long week with myself feeling under the weather and now my son who woke us up last night at 3:00am. So I will keep this short, I'm looking forward to the week-end, I can hear the birds chirping away outside my window right now so hopefully this is an indication that the weather will be warming up and I can finally stop wearing my winter jacket.

Revenge

Does anyone else watch the show Revenge? I just got caught up last night, I love this show but lately it seems like it is getting a little crazy. Too many unbelievable story lines.  Of course I won't stop watching it until the end when hopefully Emily figures out getting revenge just isn't worth it and will never make you happy.
This top is one of the new ones I bought down south. I think it is still a little cool outside as all that mesh is letting in a lot of cold air making me freezing. Will it ever get warm enough so that I can wear some spring clothes??

March Budget

I finally had a chance to add up my March Budget and see how badly I did. I have been trying this year to minimize my shopping and rather focus on all of the neglected or forgotten about clothes already in my closet. I knew that March would probably be my worst month as I go down south and always find amazing deals that cannot be passed up. So the grand total was : $354.56 - Gifts ($71.90) = $282.66 However, what is  incredible is what I got for this amount....29 pieces which include 2 shorts, 3 dresses, 5 pants, 12 tops, 2 pairs of shoes and 5 accessories. Well worth it.
Below is a pretty big step outside my comfort zone but I do love green and blue together so I thought why not?!

Homework

I am feeling really dumb. Is there something wrong with me that I can't figure out my 7 year old's homework? Should a 7 year old have homework that their parents can't figure out? Or have I just been out of school for way too long? I mean I had to call my Mom last night and ask her for help with my son's homework. I felt like I was in high school again needing my Mom's help with an essay. We talked it out and eventually got it right (I think). This is not a good sign of what's to come for grades 2-12! Maybe I need to go back to school?

April Fool's

I think Mother Nature was playing a cruel joke this morning, snowing on April 1st ? What !! It was close to 15 degrees this past week-end. Now, granted these were flurries and have since disappeared, however, the 1 degree forecast has not. I'm still going to start pulling out more spring outfits cause I have had enough of the winter ones. This shirt is really old, I just love the colour makes me think of clear water in some tropical location.
